Duck River Cleanup

What is the Duck River Cleanup?

The Duck River Cleanup is an annual, collaborative effort between Keep Maury Beautiful and Higher Pursuits. Our primary objective is to remove trash from the Duck River, its banks, and the surrounding river access points. Volunteers have the option to either float down the river to collect litter or clean up along the banks and river access areas on foot. As a token of our appreciation, we provide lunch for our dedicated volunteers!

The team at Keep Maury Beautiful does such a great job putting together the annual Duck River Cleanup. They always do a great job coordinating between the county sheriff, Higher Pursuits kayak rental, the city park and the many volunteers that participate. The tons of trash that have been removed from the river over the years helps keep the Duck River clean and protects the many endangered species that live in the river.

How Can I Participate?

The Duck River Cleanup is an annual event taking place in the Fall of each year. The event is typically held at Riverwalk Park in Columbia, TN with volunteers floating around 5-miles along the Duck River assisting with litter pick-up. Litter collection supplies are provided for all volunteers.

Interested in participating? Here is how you can help:

  • Bring your kayak or canoe

  • Stay on your feet and clean an access area

  • Donate a door prize to thank our volunteers

  • Sign up for a spot in a canoe provided by Higher Pursuits

Our 2024 Duck River Cleanup is September 21st. Rain date is October 5th.
