About Us

Who We Are

Our mission is to take responsible action resulting in beautification, education of the public, and natural resource conservation.

We take pride in Maury County and aspire to maintain our community as a clean, welcoming place for all to enjoy. Through organized litter clean-ups, environmental education, and communal action we aim to cultivate a sustainable, healthy environment now and for the generations to come.

We believe in the principles of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle:

  • Reduce the amount of waste you produce

  • Reuse items as much as you can before replacing them

  • Recycle items wherever possible

By instilling these principles into our everyday practices, we can work together to ensure Maury County remains a clean, beautiful place.

Keep Maury Beautiful is a critical community partner in our ongoing efforts to make Columbia the best it can be. They always answer the call in the name of community service and their efforts in litter abatement and overall community beautification have made our community a better place.

Our History

In 1981, the Maury County Garden Club recognized the pressing need to address litter and elevate the aesthetic appeal of our community. Their inspiration came from discovering Keep America Beautiful's "clean community systems" initiative.

The following year, in 1982, the Maury County Chamber of Commerce threw its support behind this initiative.

In April 1983, an application was submitted to Keep America Beautiful. On July 15 of the same year, the inaugural organizational meeting of Maury County Clean Community System, Inc. took place. In response to Keep America Beautiful's suggestion, the organization later changed its name to Keep Maury Beautiful.

Today, as we confront the issues posed by excessive waste, our dedicated team, board members, partners, and volunteers work to foster a positive influence on conservation throughout our county.
